Alcover tags militant groups as "pseudo party-lists"

CEBU, Philippines – Alliance for Nationalism and Democracy (ANAD) Party-list Rep. Pastor “Jun” Alcover calls Bayan Muna, Anakpawis, Akbayan and Gabriela as “pseudo party-lists,” as he vowed to expose the members of the House of Representatives who are allegedly supporting the communist movement.

During yesterday’s “Tapok-tapok sa KIA” attended by different media practitioners in Cebu, Alcover said that ANAD’s top priority is to expose “communists” who sit at the House of Representatives in the guise of promoting democracy.

“One of our programs is to eject all those communist, terrorist and opportunist party-lists in Congress kay mga demonyo sila ug sila ang rason nganong naglisod ang katawhan,” Alcover stressed.

He said these “communist” congressmen allegedly use the Priority Development Assistance Fund in areas where there are members of the National Democratic Front and New People’s Army.

Alcover together with Bantay Party-list Congressman Jovito Palparan yesterday also discussed yesterday about their plans being among the new party-lists in the country.

Alcover said they will focus more on the rebel returnees by coming up with an agency under the government that will handle communists who decide to return to the folds of law.

He also plans to build a memorial hero’s wall in all provinces where insurgency has once thrived. Names of civilians who were killed by members of NPA and NDF would be engraved on the memorial walls to serve as a reminder of the effects of violence and communism.

“We need to encourage the government to support those victims of the NPA especially those who had members of the family who were killed by the NPAs,” Alcover said.

Aside from having a memorial hero’s wall for those who were slain by the rebels, he also intends to pass a resolution seeking to provide support to the families of the victims of NPAs by giving them livelihood assistance.
